Our vision is that over time, new art will be created, collaborative methods will become wider used and the arts will broaden its horizons.
We set up Music Off Canvas in 2011, unified by a strong sense of curiosity and belief that the sharing of artistic disciplines and creative processes could lead to truly innovative and engaging performances whilst offering a platform to artists.
We began our path of discovery during our studies at the Royal College of Music, London where we met for our postgraduate studies. Through a chance meeting with a dancer from Trinity Laban, we began our first project as an improvisatory experiment and ended up with four new and exciting works. The pieces were premiered in a headlining performance for the Royal College of Music's first ever "Great Exhibitionist Series" and soon after, invited to be performed at the South Bank Centre, the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall and St. Pancras Station. One year and several experimental projects later, we were awarded a Help Musicians UK "Emerging Excellence Award 2012" which offered us both composition and business mentorship. Our mentors are Julia Payne, co-founder and director of 'the hub' and composer Errollyn Wallen MBE.
With such success and enjoyment, we decided to expand the vision of Music Off Canvas by collaborating with all types of artistic disciplines, taking on all sorts of exciting projects- take a look at our "Commissions and Performances" page to view our portfolio. We are passionate about being flexible and open to ensure that every project is as excitingly creative as the previous one.
